Ski Marmot Basin's
Proposed Eagle Ridge Development
What
- New Quad
Chairlift proposed to open for 2000/2001 ski season.
- Transport
skiers form below the Upper Chalet to Eagle Ridge, a vertical
gain of 325 meters over a slope length of 1,215 meters.
- Access to
ski terrain on Eagle East, the Chalet Slopes, part of Thunder
Bowl, and a more direct route to the Knob Chair - currently only
accessible by skiers taking the "high traverse" form the Knob
Chair.
- Fixed-grip
quad with a capacity of 1,500 to 1,700 skiers per hour.
Why
- Proposal
is consistent with the Ski area's existing long range
- development
plan of record, including specified daily skier capacity.
- Our skiers
and tourism partners have told us this is needed to maintain our
market share and the viability of Jasper as a winter tourism destination.
- A new chairlift
re-confirms Marmot's commitment to maintaining the ski area as
a world class facility.
How
- Ski Marmot
Basin is in Jasper National Park and so a Comprehensive Study
is required under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (C.E.A.A.)
